Born in Vermont and raised in Western Massachusetts, I currently live and work in Madison, Wisconsin, where I serve as Associate Director of Sustainability at the University of Wisconsin–Madison.

I earned my B.A. in English from Middlebury College and my Ph.D. in Literary Studies from UW–Madison. I also write creative nonfiction, take photographs, and do quite a lot of fly fishing. I am married to the lovely and talented writer, Chloe Benjamin.
